Titled the Queen of spices, cardamom is native to India and Sri Lanka, and is used there in traditional Ayurvedic therapies. It lives up to its name, having been traded across the world, used by the Babylonians and Assyrians in medicines, Ancient Egyptians as part of rituals, Ancient Greeks and Romans for digestive aid, and during the Song Dynasty in China for sweetening cuisine.
